Labor Day Weekend included Portland's 1st Friday Art Walk which continues to be very lively this summer and with the return of students to colleges in the area quite crowded this month.

Lust & Desire... & a little wedding cake

Susan Maasch Gallery got this months art walk off to a lusty start with a special thursday night preview, of it's new offering, Lust & Desire... sticky and sweet" featuring a performance by "Goldie Peacock" and a very lucky wedding cake.

This summer's 1st friday's have been much more entertaining than past years, with music, performance pieces, a circus of mimes, jugglers & fire eaters filling Congress Street. The art hasn't been bad either. This show as you might expect has it's share of skin, either bare or eluded to, in painting and photograph.

June 2009 1st Friday Art Walk

This months 1st Friday Art Walk may have been the best ever, lots of new galleries or new spaces, some decent music, a cirrus & young ladies covered in Frosting as performance Art.  I got a late start unfortunately and could only get to a dozen or so galleries along Congress Street but ended up at Running With Scissors which always runs later.  I have way to many images to put up here but have posted some of the better ones on my flickr page as a set: June2009 1St Friday Art Walk...  http://www.flickr.com/photos/doda_foto/
